Does anybody know any albino living in the wild? When you say albino, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Mostly, people would say mice, cats, and rabbits. But have you seen a melanistic alligator before? Melanism is a condition in which an animal is morphologically dark due to the unusually high deposition of melanin. According to an internet search, there are less than 20 melanistic alligators known to exist in the world. There are less than 300 albino alligators known to exist. Not only does their pink-white skin predispose them to dangerous sunburns, but their lack of camouflage is a real disadvantage.
