Heidi recalls her disbelief when she initially learned the news from her mother, who handed her the first photograph. She remembered wanting to lay down because her thoughts were racing through her head in a million ways at the same time. Knowing that your fleeting youthful love could one day return as a more permanent presence in your life was a strange sense of hope and promise. Following that, Ed’s family began searching through old picture albums, and they found five more pairs of the young couple, in addition to other photographs showing the whole family. As a consequence of this beautiful event, both families became closer to one another. The discovery that they are more closely related than they had previously thought is an uncommon experience ever in a family circle.
