In the same way she had done throughout her childhood, Heidi knew she would have to rely on her mother’s guidance when it came to selecting a major and eventually where to pursue a career. Her mother had always been there for her, and no problem was too big for her to deal with on her own. After much deliberation, Heidi selected courses that would enable her to pursue the kind of career she had always wanted.

Pursuing Her University Degree
Heidi chose Newcastle University for her Economics and Management degree. She was one of the thousands of students pursuing a degree who were forced to find their own housing since they were unable to reside in the university’s dormitories. These were congested living quarters that students were very fortunate to be admitted into, and they were seldom accepted into, resulting in many students having to fend for themselves while they studied. This would play a major role in her life.
