Intact 40 Million Year Old Basilosaurus
There was a dig at Wadi Al-Hitan in Egypt, and this whole Basilosaurus fossil was found. Basilosaurus is a group of early whales that ate other whales about 40 million years ago. Long, eel-like bodies. People in the southeastern U.S. used their bones to make andirons for fireplaces or foundation posts for their homes. State fossil: Basilosaurus is found in Mississippi and Alabama and in other parts of the United States.

Charlotte’s Web, a children’s book by E.B. White, is probably well-known to you. It’s that spider from the story. Like the one in the story, this spider makes webs that look like they’re made by artists. They’re meant to catch minor bugs. So, how dangerous is the barn funnel weaver spider to people? It’s not at all. Weavers of barn funnels don’t bite people.
