As with most things in life, there are upswings, and there are downswings. This colony seemed to be doing very well at first, but there were some rough patches to follow. The queen was finding her feet, and as were her worker bees, who needed to adjust to a new master.

As it turns out, this hive ended up surviving and growing for years to come, eventually turning into a record-breaking hive that beekeepers and fanatics fawned over on social media and in person. David had been privileged enough to be a part of something spectacular in the tail-end of his career.

Honey Galore
As you can imagine, the new hive generated ample honey for David to sell, which was an appropriate form of payment for all the work he did to move the hive, and to manage it in a way that it could continue to flourish.
