Mata Mata Turtle

The mata matas do not hunt; instead, they blend in with the surrounding foliage and wait for a meal to find them. When a fish approaches, the turtle extends its neck and opens its mouth wide, creating a vacuum that allows them to suck its meal into its mouth. The neck of a mata mata is much longer than its vertebrae. This turtle gets its name in the Amazon and Orinoco basins in South America.

Volcanic Lightning Long Exposure

The electrical discharge is caused by a volcanic eruption, not by a thunderstorm like you see every day. Volcanic lightning is caused by particles of volcanic ash (and sometimes ice) colliding and breaking apart, which creates static electricity in the volcanic plume and gives it the name “dirty thunderstorm.”
