This heartbreaking image depicts a juvenile elephant that has fallen into a man-made hole. Anyone who has been in the position of the young elephant knows what it’s like to fall into a manhole. This is an all-too-common situation, and the elephant has little chance of escaping on its own. Tears may be seen in the elephant’s eyes. But there is some good news. This newborn elephant was successfully rescued and released to the wild with the assistance of villagers and an excavator!
