The Biggest Hive Ever
David might have been a beekeeper for decades, but he had never come across a hive like this before in his career. After sharing a picture of it online, his followers were crazy with excitement, sharing their thoughts and questions about what he had been lucky enough to stumble onto.
It became clear that the removal operation now involved thousands of bees, rather than the hundreds he had initially anticipated. The main priority was to get them all to the new location safely. But how many bees were living in this particular colony?
An Rough Estimation
Members of the family guessed that there must be a “countless” amount of bees in the hive, but David could give a more specific amount due to his experience. He estimated that this hive had anywhere between 35 000 and 40 000 bees in it, which is an exceptionally large amount for a single space.
Before he could get them to their new home, he had to capture each one of these thousands of bees first. Thankfully, the hive was relatively relaxed, and didn’t seem to be putting up too much resistance. David was going to need to keep a level head in order to pull this off.
