Cylinders On Cable Cords
Many of us have wondered what the cylinder-like shape found at the end of cable cords is really for. They are commonly called chokes or ferrite cores which contain magnetic oxides that are useful in preventing high-frequency electromagnetic interference. Interestingly, having these around will allow you to be notified when a smartphone is nearby, as you would begin hearing constant noise as they come into contact with each other. So, the next time you happen to see a few chokes, at least you will understand their real purpose and can tell a friend about it as well.
