Black Sand Beach
When one thinks of a beach, we tend to picture white sand, crystal clear water, palm trees, umbrellas, and beach towels, and let’s not forget the loungers and cocktails! But Black Sand Beach, Reynisfjara in Southern Iceland is the complete opposite, it’s not the only one of its kind but it’s one of the few beaches in the world with black sand that’s usually a result of iron-heavy volcanic minerals and rock, which absorb light very well. This intriguing spot was considered one of the most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world with formal recognition in1991. In this spectacular picture you can see the white of the waves breaking against the matt black sand, it looks quite magical, one would imagine that it would look more amazing if some bioluminescent substances were in the water.
