Winter Sports
Winter sports are popular in cold countries where it snows all the time, particularly skiing, snowboarding, snow dog racing, and ice fishing. One must really have a love for the sport to venture out in freezing temperatures. This picture captured by Jacek Deneka shows us the Big Piastow Ski racing festival, which takes place annually in the region and brings in competitors from far and wide. Athletes from all over the Nordic Region come together to race for a position on the winning podium. Watching the race from ground level is some adrenaline-inducing, but watching from the sky is a whole new experience altogether. We can’t imagine the adrenaline rush the racers must experience but it must be quite something.

Big Buddha
Buddhism has been practiced in Japan since around the sixth century CE. This particular statue, The Big Buddha, is the tallest of three statues in the world and it was built in recognition of Shinran, who was the co-founder of the “True Pure Land School”.Japanese Buddhism has given birth to many other avenues of Buddhist practices, and Japan has been a focal point of the practices with monks from all over the world traveling to the region to study further in the field. Ushiku boasts one of the most memorable and popular statues of Buddha in the world. Tourists obviously love having their picture taken with the majestic buddha but the view in this picture could have only been captured by a drone, captured from just over the right shoulder of the statue, it almost seems like we can see things from Buddha’s perspective.
