Despite appearing like something straight out of a sci-fi film, you can believe that this is a picture taken on Earth! The platypus is a mammal of the semiaquatic variety, which lays eggs. Eastern Australia is where you can find these funny-looking creatures, including Tasmania. This is the sole species within the larger family and genus.
